Experience Visual Freedom

Are you interested in experiencing the visual freedom that refractive vision correction can provide? At Des Moines Eye Surgeons, we are proud to offer the advanced EVO Visian ICL to help patients who qualify experience reduced dependency on visual aids.

What is EVO Visian ICL?

The EVO Visian ICL is a type of ICL, or implantable collamer lens, that is used to correct vision and provide greater independence from visual aids. Although there are different types of ICLs on the market, the EVO Visian ICL offers some unique advantages of its own.

The EVO Visian ICL gets placed between your cornea and natural lens. It corrects nearsightedness and astigmatism, both of which are refractive errors caused by the shape of your eye or your cornea.

This lens is comprised of a collagen copolymer material compatible with your body’s natural chemistry. Because of this, the material works in harmony with your natural eye.

It also has anti-reflective properties that protect your eyes from harmful UV rays. After implantation, the EVO Visian ICL allows light to focus directly on your retina instead of elsewhere in the eye, resulting in clear vision.

The EVO Visian ICL is a unique vision correction device that uses advanced technology to provide you with crisp and clear vision. This procedure has a high success rate and is becoming the procedure of choice for many people who desire greater freedom from visual aids.

While the EVO Visian ICL procedure is a good option for candidates who don’t qualify for LASIK or PRK, you may also select this lens if you want to experience excellent night vision. Also, when compared to other methods of permanent vision correction, ICL surgery is less invasive since you do not have to undergo corneal reshaping.

Who Is a Good Candidate for the EVO Visian ICL Procedure?

There are many reasons why you may choose the EVO Visian ICL for your method of permanent vision correction. Prior to scheduling EVO Visian ICL surgery, you must first qualify as a candidate for the procedure.

You may qualify for vision correction for vision correction with the EVO Visian ICL if:

There are also various requirements you must meet for any vision correction procedure. The only way to determine whether or not you meet these criteria is to visit your eye doctor at Des Moines Eye Surgeons for a consultation.

However, in general, here are some of the requirements your eye doctor may consider when determining your candidacy for the EVO Visian ICL procedure:

During your consultation, your eye doctor will conduct a comprehensive eye exam to determine your eligibility. They will also assess your eye and medical history to determine if the EVO Visian ICL is right for you and will be able to accomplish your vision goals.

What Happens During the EVO Visian ICL Procedure?

ICL surgery is an outpatient procedure that takes less than thirty minutes.

On the day of your procedure, your eye surgeon will begin by giving you an anesthetic eye drop. These drops numb your eyes, so you don’t feel anything during the procedure.

Next, they will create an incision at the base of your cornea to insert the EVO Visian ICL. The EVO Visian ICL can be folded and inserted through the small incision your eye doctor has made.

Once the lens is inserted, your eye doctor will make any necessary adjustments to ensure it is properly positioned in the eye. After it is in the correct position, your eye surgeon will instill eye drops to prevent inflammation and infection.

You will need a ride home the day of your procedure, as your eyesight may be blurry at first. You will likely notice improved vision right after the procedure, although it may take some time for you to witness the full potential of your newly corrected vision.

What to Expect After the EVO Visian ICL Procedure?

After your procedure, you will need to rest for one or two days to recover. You will visit your eye doctor the following day so that they can evaluate the placement of the EVO Visian ICL.

The EVO Visian ICL provides permanent vision correction. However, it is possible for your eye doctor to remove it later if you experience vision changes or for any other reason that would make removal necessary.

Benefits of Choosing the EVO Visian ICL

The EVO Visian ICL is an exciting vision correction technology. It is the only permanent but reversible vision correction procedure available.

However, the advantages of choosing the EVO Visian ICL do not stop there. Here are some additional benefits of selecting the EVO Visian ICL:

Another benefit of choosing the EVO Visian ICL is that it allows you to forgo an additional laser procedure prior to ICL surgery, which is required by many other lens types. This procedure is called an LPI, or laser peripheral iridotomy, and is required to prevent a rise in eye pressure after ICL surgery with other types of ICLs.

However, thanks to the new and advanced technology in the EVO Visian ICL, you are able to skip this procedure, schedule ICL surgery, and experience visual freedom much sooner.
